This antique box is very charming. It’s made in the perfect size to hold envelopes and letters. This box would have been used on a desk top to hold precious correspondence. The inside is lined with gold leaf. The outside of the box has a fantastic carved base and is adorned with a picturesque country home on a pond. The center price is framed in a raised carved wreath and sided by two incredible antique rose stickers the box is finished in a shiny glossy paint. This box is very old and shows it’s ages with a beautiful antique patina. The clasp on the front is delicate brass and in good working condition. The two hinges that the box opens on are more worn, one missing the original stake and a price of wire is in its place to allow it to work as intended, the other hinge is in tact and working. (See photos) This box is handmade with incredible care and craftsmanship, complete with dovetailed joints.
