Difficult to find set of 6 graduated nesting grain measuring cups originating from Bombay, India most likely in the late 1800s or very early 1900s. A 'seer' was a measure of weight similar to a 'cup' and is approximately equivalent to a litre/kilo. This set ranges in size from 1/2 seer to 1/64 seer. Made from copper and brass, each cup shows its measurement capacity to the side, as well as maker's marks (Oriental Metal Pressing Works, Bombay) and other charming stamps and engravings. Notice the 1/32 seer is stamped upside down making it even more unique and rare. Some patina to the insides. Going to leave the decision to buff the exterior to the buyer. Absolutely beautiful - a really special collection for any discerning copper collector. Or any fan of a brass copper combo.
